The society of friends of the ISD (Verein der Freunde des Instituts für Statik und Dynamik der Luft- und Raumfahrtkonstruktionen der Universität Stuttgart e.V.) is a nonprofit organization with the mission of advancing scientific work of the institute by cultivating contacts with former employees as well as exchanging experiences and sharing thoughts with interested guests.

Realization:

• Organizing events (ISD evenings, ISD balls, barbecues, field trips)
• Supporting tutorials and workshops
• Support by awarding scholarships
• Promoting and assisting projects (e.g. solar powered plane "Lotte")
• Keeping friends and former employees informed about current events (e.g. via mailing list)

Several times a year the society organizes an ISD evening. Inspired by interesting presentations (not necessarily of engineering nature), it is a great opportunity for socializing and sharing thoughts.
