We are delighted to share that our colleague Dr.-Ing. Raghav Pathak has been awarded the DGM Nachwuchspreis 2026 by the German Society for Materials Science (DGM).
The award recognizes his research at the intersection of materials modelling, cryosphere research and computational mechanics. A central focus of his work is the development of physically consistent numerical models for complex material systems, particularly sea ice, where thermomechanical processes, fracture, deformation and material evolution interact across different scales.
During his time at the Institute of Mechanics (ISD), University of Stuttgart, Raghav has combined methods from continuum mechanics, thermodynamics and numerical simulation to better understand such coupled material processes. His work demonstrates how fundamental mechanics and computational modelling can contribute to challenges extending from materials science to environmental and engineering applications.
We warmly congratulate Raghav on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to celebrating the award at the DGM-Tag 2026 on 28 September in Darmstadt.
