Topics at the ISD

The main research interest of the ISD is the theory of porous media and its application to various mechanical fields. One such application is biomechanics. We simulate biological processes to gain insight into how external influences change the behaviour of these systems and which part of the process is important for certain mechanical reactions.
Owing to the institute's historical development, there is high interest in the finite element method and its application to our research fields, including environmental mechanics and uncertainty quantification.
